Chairman’s Thank you

On behalf of the committee I want to take a few moments to reflect on what has been a truly phenomenal UKFSC 2026.

First and foremost, congratulations to every single competitor. Over the last few days, we saw incredible skill, fierce determination, and outstanding seamanship out on the water. We are used to battling the elements in our day jobs, but trading your work environment for shifting winds and heavy seas brings its own unique set of challenges.

What struck me most this week was how naturally our skills translated to the water. Sailing demands split-second decision-making, absolute trust in your crew, and seamless communication. When the wind caught us off guard or a maneuver didn't go to plan, nobody panicked. You adjusted, you supported each other, and you pushed forward that is the essence of emergency services.

Beyond the racing, the true highlight of this event has been the camaraderie. It has been fantastic to see crews from different services, stations, brigades, and regions coming together, sharing a laugh, and swapping stories over a drink once the boats were tied up. The bonds forged here strengthen our wider emergency services community.

An event of this magnitude requires an immense amount of work behind the scenes. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the organising committee the race officers, the safety boat crews, and the host clubs staff. Your dedication kept us safe and ensured the entire event ran like clockwork.

To our families, friends, and sponsors—thank you for your vital support. You make it possible for us to step away from the frontline, recharge, and participate in events like this.

To those taking home trophies, wear your victory with pride and humility. To everyone else, remember that the memories, the laughs, and the friendships made this week are the real prizes.

Thank you all for your passion, your sportsmanship, and your dedication.

Stay safe on your next shift, and we will see you all on the start line next year.

Thank you.
