announcing our itinerary plans for 2023

We apologize for the delay in announcing the itinerary for next year’s UK Firefighters Sailing Challenge. This was due to the recent coronation of the King and the need to confirm details with various parties.

Exciting news, the plan for changing venues each year for Monday and Tuesday will continue and next year promises to be just as exciting. You can find the full list of events on our website, www.ukfsc.org.uk.

On Monday, following the training day, participating yachts will be berthing at Cowes Yacht Haven. The opening night’s ceremony and meal will take place at the welcoming Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, which is approximately 100 meters from the harbor.

Tuesday’s racing in the Central and Western Solent will end with yachts berthing in Yarmouth Harbour. The evening’s social event and meal will be held at the Royal Solent Yacht Club. There will be two sittings for the meal, with further details to be provided, and evening entertainment will be arranged following the disbandment of Snatch Rescue.

Wednesday’s racing will take place in the Western Solent, with yachts returning to Cowes for the gala dinner and prize giving for the first two days of round-the-cans racing. Thursday’s Handicapped Passage Race will follow the same format as previous years, with boats starting in reverse order of their finishing places from the first two days.

We bid farewell to Jon Nabney and Karen Rawson from Sunsail who have been our race officers for many years, though we may see them skippering in the event. Due to cost constraints, we are pleased to announce our new race officials for 2023 will be Laurie Tennant and his team from Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club. They will be introduced at the opening ceremony.

For teams that have not yet paid their deposit, please do so as soon as possible as we need to pay for the yacht charter.

Mick Norman, Chair of UKFSC
